The let-down in Wells was that the Jack o’ Clubs casino was closed. Sadly most towns we visited did not have a used book, or it was crap (like Quesnels – all Tom Clancy and Westerns.) Wells little book store was great. I got Ecstasy by Irvine Welsh; they also had Trainspotting, Hardy Boys, Nancy Drew, The Christian Movie Review (‘96 edition)…
You all know Barkerville: History made fun, actors in character, overpriced candy, friendly gophers, antique shops, french, rooms made to look just like in 189?-192?, gold mines, Chinatown, horses, families, germans, authentic old photo reproductions, screaming babies, history made fun.
